SMS Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 16, 2026

The Overwatch Project (“Overwatch Project,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), an initiative of FORGE, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, respects your privacy. This SMS Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect the mobile phone numbers and related information of people who opt in to receive text messages (SMS/MMS) from us.

The information we collect

When you opt in to our text messaging program, we may collect your name, mobile phone number, and the date and method of your consent. We use this information only to deliver the messages you have asked to receive and to maintain records of consent as required by law.

How we collect your number and consent

We collect mobile phone numbers and SMS consent only when you provide them directly to us — for example, by submitting a form on our website (including our Plan Kit and program sign-up forms), by checking an opt-in box, or by otherwise giving us express permission to text you. We do not purchase or rent phone numbers, and we do not add people to our text program without their consent.

How we use your information

We use your mobile number to send program-related and transactional messages, including Plan Kit notifications and confirmations, claim and follow-up reminders, and occasional training, event, or program updates from the Overwatch Project. We do not use your number for any purpose other than the messaging described in this policy.

We do not sell or share your information

Mobile information will not be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. The only parties that may access your mobile number are the SMS service providers we use solely to deliver our messages to you. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third parties for their own purposes.

Message frequency and rates

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How to opt out or get help

You can cancel the SMS service at any time by replying STOP to any message. After you reply STOP, we will send one confirmation message and will not send you any further texts unless you opt in again. For help, reply HELP or contact us at info@overwatchproject.org.

Data security and retention

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, and we restrict access to authorized personnel and service providers. We retain your mobile number for as long as you remain opted in and as needed to meet our legal and recordkeeping obligations. You may request deletion of your information at any time by contacting us at info@overwatchproject.org.

Changes to this policy

We may update this SMS Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent changes.
